Visceral Manipulation Technique

Principles: In osteopathic medicine, the concept of mobility also includes the viscus. In fact, the ligaments, the meso, fascias and organs move among each other. The lungs move as they breathe, the kidneys move as we walk, the intestine and stomach move during peristalsis, the urinary bladder moves when evacuating, etc. The restrictions of movement of an organ or of several organs with respect to each other entails a loss in the free flow of bodily liquids and hinders the free impulse of the nerves. There is a movement of an organ with regard to other organs, known as “mobility”, and also an intrinsic movement of an organ, called “motility”.
Method: There are specific manipulations for each organ, meso, fascia, and visceral ligament. Organs, nerves, lymphatic vessels, arteries and veins can all be manipulated.
Indications: All functional disorders.
